A computer virus was removed a few weeks back, and my computer "tuned up" to run better.
When I got it back up, the "tune up" had wiped out a lot of my files. It also took Outlook Express.
I went through the entire set-up process. The last window I worked with wanted account name and password.
I assumed the account name is the same as the email address, , but I long ago forgot and misplaced the password.
Error code 0X800CCC0D came up. I chased that and it told me that a connection could not find the email server.
I found instructions online through AT&T, my ISP, that pop.att.yahoo.com and smtp.att.yahoo.com are the server connections.
I called AT&T and got a very polite "we will be MORE that happy to help you for a nice fee."
They reason if I can access the net then the problem is not theirs and a service charge will be made.
Now, how do I reestablish my old account or it that is not possible, how do I solve this problem and set up another?
Thanks, I hope this is not too verbose

Huh? You're a paying AT&T customer and they won't help you reset your password? I can't believe that. As I understand your situation, password is actually the only thing preventing you from getting your email working again. If so, I'd call again, as you'd probably be talking to a different customer service rep, and just say you need to reset your password.

By the way, you should be able to access your email via web browser until you get OE working again. Of course, this still requires the password.

Do you absolutely have to use Outlook Express? Could you use Thunderbird or another free program? Did you have stuff on Outlook Express that you need to get back?

Pardon the delay in this response. I am trying to multi-tasks multiple tasks that I am multi-tasking.
I have Thunderbird, but when I tried to email a newsletter I set up, to a webmaster, I got en error message that the email was over the limit. I find that strange, as I have been doing the newsletter for a few years and never had this problem

I cannot access past publications that were stored on my PC, the "tune up" and virus removal removed those, so I do not know if any past issue were of a greater size. I have a CD with a number of issues on it, but that does not want to work, and that is a separate issue.

So, I though about going over to OEx and see if I could send it through that system.

    Thanks,

You might like to try this (from another site), as you may have a timeout problem:
If you are screening your outbound messages through an anti-virus filter, the extra time taken for the a-v scan may cause TBird's wait for message confirmation to time out. By the time the server reports the message was received okay, TBird is no longer looking for the confirmation.

    Two things to try:

    1) Reconfigure your antivirus program to NOT scan outbound messages.

    2) Reset the timeout setting. Menu Path:
    • [In Windows]: Tools | Options, or
[In OSX]: Thunderbird | Preferences, or
      [In *nix]: Edit | Preferences
.. then Advanced | Network & Disk Space
Set the "Connection timeout: [XX] seconds" option to something larger than its default of 60 seconds.

    P.S. Keep up the multi-tasking! :)

This is one of those one of those days.
I played "bad password",and/or "bad ID" or "can't use that ID/Password" for quite a while.
Finally got it to accept entries, then got a message that the "account is already registered."
    Two steps forward, three back.Skysarge
Got me so frustrated I almost reenlisted in the Army for the easy life in combat.
Forgot recruiters closed for New Year's day.

    Thanks,
Could not find that option, however I resent and again the error msg file was "too large"
69.73.24.50 failed after I sent the message.
Remote host said: 552 sorry, that message size exceeds my databytes limit (#5.3.4)

The file (newsletter) is 17,302 Kb

OK, 17 MB is a pretty large file to email. And the restriction on size is at the receiver's end, judging by the message. So there's not much you can do about that.
You might be able to get around the problem by compressing the photos in the document. In Word 2003, for example, you right click on a photo, then click on Format Picture, and in the Picture tab, click on Compress. In the panel that opens, select All Pics in Document, choose a Resolution, and tick the two options at the bottom - Compress and Delete Cropped Areas. Save the file and send.

Being a PFC with this outfit, it behooves one to seek answers as well as query others.
I located several sites that can handle large volume email.
About.com email has an article "Top 8 Services to Send Big Files via Email"
I sent an inquiry to web master where the large email is to go, to see if he has a preference, if not will try one to see what happens.
Thanks to all who posted suggestions and ideas

I converted the newsletter file (publisher) to PDF. This was a suggestion from the webmaster at the website the newsletter is for.
I emailed it to him using a standard server.
That was more than 30 minutes ago.It has not kicked back a "cannot send" message as it had been doing.
It will be tomorrow before I know anything for sure.
    Thanks to all for suggestions.
    Greatly appreciated.
