When I start up, a box pops up saying Outlook can save space by compressing files. I don't have outlook installed, and always choose cancel. I checked in the control panel add/remove, Spybot SD startup, and CCleaner startup, found no reference to outlook that I can recognize. I run AVG, not the free one, SB, and Spywareblaster. My windows updates are set to auto, but I manually pick which ones to install. The register makes reference to outlook in the root, but not in any of the software folders. As a side note, after my kids and friends have been on here, I find all kinds of links to game sites. Could any of these have something to do with it? Hope I picked the right forum. Thanks for what you people do, you're the best !! :major

    Hi

What application do you use to get emails?

Which Windows version do you have plus service pack? if its XP then this popup maybe from Outlook Express which will if you use it generate this at every 100 closures of Outlook Express.

Should be an option in Outlook Express to go manual with the compacting, open it up and goto tools > options > maintenance

I'm running XP sp3. I only use hotmail for e-mail. We have outlook at work, and I don't like it. I have never installed Outlook on this machine, that I'm aware of. However, there is an Outlook folder in the windows explorer, under programs.
    Keeps getting weirder.
    Thanks

You do have Microsoft outlook 5 or 6 depending on what version windows you got installed on your computer as it's part of windows installation. But the message shouldn't come up if you are not using it.

Open the program and check to see if there is any mail accounts being setup in there and if there is that's why you are getting the message. Just delete the mail account and the message should stop.
