We have many users that use Word as their email editor, when they go to compose an email or reply to one, they will get several instances of word opened up on their taskbar. Any ideas on how to fix this one?

You can go to the internet options and in the Advanced tab before the Advanced one, you can change your e-mail editor to whatever you want to use.

I knew that, thank you though but The users need to have Word as their editor.

Under Word Tools/Options/View tab looking for something like "Windows in TaskBar". Disabling this option will reduce the amount of taskbar space (for each opened Word documents into one (e.g., 4 opened documents with a separate Word icon, will be replaced by 1 icon). This is the SDI/MDI (single/multiple document interface) feature that is in the Office 2000 and up suites.

Is that office XP or 2000? I see the option on my machines that have office XP, not on the office 2000 ones though

Well...... I thought it was there in the Office 2000 suite package hmm.... Is this the version you're using?

I searched around and found this ....

"When Microsoft introduced Office 2000, one of the more controversial features was that Word and Excel were changed from Multiple Document Interface (MDI) applications, where each document window was contained inside the parent application window, to Single Document Interface (SDI) applications, where each document occupied its own window. A side effect of an SDI application is that each document also gets its own button on the Windows taskbar, and you can easily switch between documents using the standard ALT+TAB key combination.

However, some users found this new interface to be problematic, because multiple Word documents could quickly clutter the taskbar. In Word 2002, you can now optionally choose to use MDI mode again if you're so inclined."

Here's a Link to a Word MVP site that talks about this as well...

    http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/SDIMDI.htm

Below they point you to another place to get a template developed to bring back the SDI interface. Once you're at that site, you don't need to register to look at the "MS Word files" section and download it. It's there, just a matter of looking for it.

A few steps here and there, but I hope this helps.
