    Pesky thing!
I think this will do it:

    1. Rename your new Outlook.pst back to Outlook1.pst.
    2. Bring back your old deleted Outlook.pst from the bin.
    3. Open Outlook.
    4. Hopefully Outlook will now open and you will now see (on the left) two main folders - one for the old stuff and one for the new.
    5. If so, right click on the new one and click on Close "...." (the name of the folder is between the quotes). That should stop Outlook looking for that folder when it next opens.
    6. Close Outlook, then go back to the .pst files, delete the old one again, and rename the new one back to Outlook.pst.
    7. Then try opening Outlook again.
I must depart these premises. I'll see how you went when I get home in about an hour. :wave

nope, il est casse a quatre :( step 4 doesnt work, i mean outlook opens et al, but when it come to old stuff/new stuff... theres 'personal folders' with inbox and allof mums folders and the delete folder etc as normal, i'm not really sure what i'm looking for, but i'm pretty sure its not there..

ahah ^ignore i think... there are 2 files that say personal folders. they seem to have slightly different stuff in them :confused

the top one seems to have more in it, but the bottom one has some messages that look important that aren't in the top one, and are unread. i think the top one also has the guff from outlook express as it has the most recent stuff in :confused its all a bit of a mess tbh

i have a plan, i'm goingto delet the top folder, then re-import outlook express so the most recent emails are there

sorted :-D it didn't like it when I called it outlook.pst, so i've left it as outlook1.pst as it was before which seems to work :)

Bien. Tant que ca marche. :)
    Je t'en prie.
One last thing to do then, or two.
While the computer's clean, make a restore point, so you can go back to it if needed
And get your computer some good protection, so the nasties can't get back in. Have a look here (start at the bottom of point 5 - the recommendation in purple, then go back to the start):

    In case you need it:
Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore and then follow the steps in the wizard.
