Outpost firewall began acting up and wouldn't allow an internet connection. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall but it says it's missing something that will not allow it to be uninstalled and to correct it or reinstall it again. The problem is, it won't do a clean install either. I was going to replace it with Comodo but can't get rid of it in order to do so.

Well, I tried uninstalling it just a few minutes after this post and it uninstalled...never mind.

Do you need a firewall? Windows firewall is sufficent and if you have a router, you already have a hardware firewall. I know you got it removed but just thought I would mention it. Next time try it from safe mode :)

Back to square one.The problem I had initially was with the ports of outpost. I tried to uninstall it and it said it was missing an uninstall msg file. I'm still having trouble connecting and when comparing the device managers on both computers, I noticed that my laptop which can connect to the internet has more things listed than just an ethernet card. Hence, I tried to uninstall it again and it won't let me. It also won't let me install a new copy. I've been searching the web looking for an uninstall tool but no luck as of yet.

I just finished downloading and installing a different version which then let me uninstall it. I'm going to install comodo now and see if I can connect to the internet.

I think you would be better off not installing Comodo until you can find the issue that prevents you from connecting. Per your other post in the Network Forum, were you able to uninstall avast?

Yes I was able to uninstall Avast and I also reinstalled it and it is running OK now. I'll find out after this post if I can connect or not. I believe outpost was the problem.
