*Note: This is not a bump or a duplicate thread! This is regarding a different machine than my thread earlier today!*

Sigh. I was experimenting with ComboFix on what I thought was a clean machine in preparation for making another go at my daughter's "gift horse" computer, the subject of a thread I started earlier today.

I found some stuff that looks questionable. Does this machine have some lingering taint??

Attached are the combofix and MGtools files. I'll see if I have a usable file from SAS and Malwarebytes, but they may have been purged.

Here is the first SAS log I ran on my machine and the only two "infected" logs I ever got from MalwareBytes--one was from the first pass, the other from the second.

I haven't figured out how to get a useful report from Spybot S&D. :-o

Please update both MBAM & SAS to the latest definitons > run them (fixing what they find) and attach fresh logs.

    Thanks!

You betcha. Both logs are clean.

In defense of me, I actually do keep SAS and MB updated. I misinterpreted a part of the instructions in the "Read and Run This First" article about not running scans more than once to mean that you didn't necessarily want a current scan from these programs (see what I mean by outsmarting myself?).

    Gratefully,

    Hello, FighterJetMom

Your logs are clean. Just one thing to do:

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Then run Ccleaner

It's time to do our final steps:
