i have a e6300 on gigabyte 965-ds3, in the bios the Cpu frequency is set at 286 as opposed to the 266 defult, but in windows, it still says 1.86 ghz....no boot error or anything... the voltage options is set at auto, cuz im affraid that i might over juice my ram ( i doubt it but still i cant bring myself in to doing it) my ram is A-data DDr2 667 512x2

Use CPUZ to check your clock speed. Windows would only report the default speed for my processor, not the actual speed, but CPUZ worked just fine.

yeah that showed the speed but now i have another problem, my multiplier keeps jumping back down to 6 but in bios its at 7 so during boot the report says 2.66 ghz (380 x7) and in windows im only at 2.2 ghz
