Overlclocking Soyo

Hello all. I have a PIII Tualatin, 1200/256/133/1.475. I am running it on a Soyo 7VBA-133U. It runs stock at 133*9 (=1200). I can overclock to 143*9(1287), but no more or less. If I enter any other value, the computer is unresponsive, after the BIOS save, then reboots at a default 133. I've seen forums where people can get up to 1.5 Ghz(I think) out of this cpu.

I was wondering about a few things.

#1 Does the motherboard manufacturer matter a great deal when trying to overclock a chip?

#2 Any recommendations on a better oc'ing socket 370 motherboard?

#3 Will voltage incrementation help? I don't see any jumpers on the mobo for changing the voltage settings.

The cooling is more then adequate. I have a heatsink with vantech tornado (very loud). Any help would be appreciated.

 

Did you turn off spread sectrom?? Did ya read the overclocking guide ??


(#1) Yes it does

(#2) the only good mobo i know of that whould OC well whould be a ASUS P2B-F with a good ( one with FSB and V settings ) slot 1 to 370 addapter

(#3) yes it prolly would but it will make the CPU run hotter and ( in theory ) kill it sooner..

 

No, I didn't turn off the spread spectrum. I'll try that.

I tried to read through the o'clocking guide. From what I remember, it is rather long, and couldn't make it through the whole thing.
