p4 3 gig to hot

hi all,

i have just got a new motherboard and processor.

when the syetem is idle the temp is aroun 55 when under load it can go upto around 70 and the fan speed is around 2200 to 2400.

i have a fan on the side of the case blowing air in and 2 extracing the air.

the motherboad is intel d915gav

and the processor is a p4 3gig.

i dont know a lot about this motherboard but it suppost to have Heceta 6e; Intel® Precision Cooling Technology what ever that is.


any help would b great

what heatsink do u have is it stock or did u buy if u buy wich one is it,
another thing what thermal paste did u use y recmmendo u buy a new heat sink like the ones from thermaltake i like the volcano series cause i use amd but maybe u should use the sparke series or the heat pipe technology like to se his one

You probably need to improve your case air flow, ya need cool air in, hot air out, best to have equal amounts in vs out.

I have P4 3.0 with aftermarket HSF, my idel is aprox 30c max is mid 40c
I'm usimg Thermalright XP-90 with Panaflo 92mm H1b fan (best bang for the buck):

I am running a P4 630 O/C'd to 3.4 with Asus Star Ice Cooler and I get Idle temps of 28 Deg (Min RPM) and load temps of no more than 36 Deg (Max RPM)
