   says bios is not installed for some reason
   
   when i went and found it for my board and got it it says its an unkown file like a .rom file
   
   its on windows xp as well

   Have you tried setting the jumper on the mobo to reset cmos?? also try downloading and unzipping a new bios from the asus website n try installing one of those.
