    Hi,
I have a 2wire wireless modem and there are two computers connected to it. We both have laptops that are running windows XP. Our internet started to get finicky so we reset everything and found that we could not get online at all.
We could receive, but not send packets. I turned off his computer and plugged an ethernet cable from the modem into my computer. I have a static ip address and i tried changing it to automatic and then re-entering the data to be sure. Nothing seems to work. It might very well be that I am just an idiot, but any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Packet sent means nothing since there is way to know if it really got anywhere.

I assume that you have a Modem/Router combo, otherwise you can not use two computers.

Reseting the hardware and playing with IP assignment might change the setting so it is not compatible any more between the Laptops and the Modem/Router.

It is time to take out the manual and learn how to configure your Network with the Router.
