Hello, I wonder if anyone can help please. I have XP SP2 and IE v6.0. when i go on the internet nearly all the sites i go to have some areas on the page where like the ads an stuff should be saying (page cannot be displayed) and some sites i cant even get on to and also i have a couple of programs that cant update because they say that i am not connected to the net or they cant find my internet connection, all firewalls are off so i dont think its that. if anyone can help that would be great. Are sure you don't have any firewalls on, either software or hardware based? (ie router etc)

Also, disabling some firewalls doesn't really turn them off. Try enalbing access in the firewall's program control. (which firewall is it?)

Maybe your HOSTS file is blocking the ads, run this command to check if it is empty:
