And written by Gene Roddenberry. Same scripting would follow to TOS sometimes even scenes were copied.

Heck yes. "Have Gun, Will Travel". Was a great show.

I even remember the radio version from the 50s. Different guy doing the part. William Conrad IIRC.

I remember Paladin. Man that Richard Boone was a rough lookin thing, I always thought Waylon Jennings looked like him.

Do you guy's remember Rory Calhoun? " I smoke Pall Mall, that's my cigarette"

Hehe. Getting old... tell me about it. :D

Don't remember who did How The West Was Won, but I was wrong about the radio show. That was a guy named John Dehner. HGWT was somewhat unique as it spun off from the TV show. Normally, popular radio shows went to TV, (as did Gunsmoke) but almost never in the other direction. This was right at the end of the radio drama era.

Yep. Conrad was the voice of Matt Dillon in the radio version of Gunsmoke, which is where I probably got them confused.

Chester's last name was Proudfoot (supposed to be a half-breed I guess). Always sounded like a hillbilly on Prozac. ;)

Was Paladin even given a first name? I never heard one mentioned.

John Dehner played Paladin (blew it in my first post, corrected it down the page a bit).

got it. don't know many who know this stuff. paladin never had a first name, but on the tv version his busines card always read:
    Wire Paladin

    san francisco

knew some people who worked on the show and they said that "wire" was his first name, not an address to get ahold of him for business. anyway, trivia for the bored. william conrad finally starred in Canon and Jake and the Fatman before passing away a few years ago. Had a great voice for radio or TV. all the players on the gunsmoke radio series were very upset when they didn't get cast as the gunsmoke TV series regulars. I remember listening to serials while doing homework and hearing advertisements for the big change " coming soon.......COLOR RADIO 98 KFWB..... "..... think it was around 1956 or so in southern cal. oh well, the times they are a changin

Must be suffering from "old Timers Disease", the TV series was "The Wild Wild West" (TWWW), not "How the West was won".

TWWW was set in a railway carriage.
    Any one remember it.
Trying to remember the sidekick in TWWW but not happening. Bazza

Ah! TWWW starred Robert Conrad in the lead as James West
Ross Martin played his sidekick Artemis.

Crazy show for that era. Sort of a Sci-Fi Western.

Thanks GT. I thought I had replied earlier to your post. Ahhhhhhh Robert Conrad not William Conrad, damn. Artemis was the name I was trying to recall. Could have taken the easy way out and googled it, I suppose. Loved that show, must check out if DVD's are available for that show. Bazza
