Hello!!! Newbie here with my first post. I have been having problems with my pc since getting hit with an adware virus roughly 2 months ago. I was using Spybot search and destroy and hijack this. I went to upgrade my spybot and when I did it actually got slower. To the point it would take 12 hours plus to do a full scan (I learned later from their forum board im not the only one with this issue) So I uninstalled both of those and tried to install Adaware's free version. It installed fine but it too would get to a point and lock up. So I uninstalled that. Then tried Pandas Activescan. The one that scans your PC using active x controls. Well now I cant uninstall it from my PC. I contacted their support staff and was told I need to purchase a license before they can help me. Im at a loss as I dont know what else to do and I know my PC still has issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did run Microsofts Malicious tool removal and crap cleaner. I am running windows 2000 pro AMD duron processor and norton internet security 2006. I hope someone can help me out (just a little would be greatly appreciated) Thanx !!!

    Jeff

Are you wanting to continue cleaning your computer or do you want to remove what you have installed?

Id like to remove the panda and also scan my pc to see what it is causing problems. I forgot to ad that when I try to uninstall through my add and remove programs I get a error message that says Dr Watson couldnt attach itself Microsoft code=2 and I also get an error message for an executable program but cant see what it is as the screen locks up and I have to open task monitor to shut them down. Any suggestions? Thanx

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

    1. Download and Install CCleaner
      • Note that, when asked to run CCleaner, you should run ONLY the default scan (Windows Tab). Do Not “Scan For Issues”!

    2. Download FixWareout by Lonny and save it to your Desktop.

    3. Download & Install Ewido Security Suite
      • Be sure to uncheck Install background guard and Install scan via context menu when you Install Ewido.
      • After installing EWIDO, please update it’s definitions by Clicking the Update Button > Start.
      • Just leave it for now. You'll be running it shortly ;)

    4. Please locate your download of FixWareout and INSTALL it.
      • Be sure that Run fixit is checked.
      • Click Finish to begin the fix.
      • Follow the prompts and Reboot when asked to do so.
      • Upon Reboot, follow the prompts and HijackThis should open.

    5. After HJT opens, Click Scan and then Check the boxes for the following, if they should remain:

      O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{1BE7723B-547B-4F18-9B2E-CD7E82AD1FFB}: NameServer = 85.255.115.26,85.255.112.110
      O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{E86EF341-ED91-4AF6-AAA0-782BAE03E7A8}: NameServer = 85.255.115.26,85.255.112.110
      O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\..\{1BE7723B-547B-4F18-9B2E-CD7E82AD1FFB}: NameServer = 85.255.115.26,85.255.112.110
      O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\..\{1BE7723B-547B-4F18-9B2E-CD7E82AD1FFB}: NameServer = 85.255.115.26,85.255.112.110

    6. Now, run CCleaner, Be sure you only run the Default Scan (Windows Tab) and select Run Cleaner. Do not run any other options from other tabs.

    7. Please Boot to Safe Mode!
      • Open Ewido and Select Scanner. Click Settings, make sure ALL boxes are checked under How to Scan & Unwanted Software and that Scan Every File has been selected.
      • When EWIDO has been configured correctly, click OK.
      • Click Complete System Scan to begin the scan. Allow EWIDO to clean all that it finds and then save the log to where you can find it easily.

    8. Please do the Online Scan below and have it clean what it finds:
    9. After ALL of the above has been completed, please REBOOT to normal Windows, scan with HijackThis and ATTACH that log. Please save and attach the logs from the Panda Scan, the EWIDO scan, and the log found at C:\fixwareout\report.txt as well.
Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and how your computer is running now.
