Did a quick search here to no avail.

I am having a problem with their instructions to fix a 'no internet connection' message I am getting from the program.

I KNOW that I'm connected to the net, and the program "seems" to be working, yet still I get the error/message.

I am attaching the two fix instructs I have found in their support forum, I simply don't understand the "Copy" part of the instruction (#2 & #4 enlarged and emboldened).

What does it mean to "copy into the installation folder" &/or "copy the new one in the same folder" - please? How do I do this please?

    Thanks in advance...

Yes, thank you, and that's where I got the instructions that I attached here - my question is that I don't know exactly how to carry-out the instructions :confused ... I'm stuck at the part where they say to "copy the attachment into the installation folder" and/or; "copy the new one in the same folder..."

I'm sure it's probably very simple, but unfortunately the simplest things seem to go right over my head (at times):)-o:cry:-D

How do I "copy the attachment" and where will I find these folders ... I apparently I don't know how (or am not "getting/understanding" the part of the instructions on how to 'copy an attachment into a particular folder), please?

    Hi Glenn

The installation folder will be the one that Panda has created in your C:\Program Files\Panda Security folder as I just installed Panda Cloud AV to test this with and that file PSANModAdiag.dll and the PSNComms.dll file are in that location.

    Hi David and thank you.

I will try this by unfortuneately (for me) I'm still not really clear on what they are suggesting that I do.

In one place they're saying "copy the attached PSANModAdiag.dll to the install. folder"; and in another place they are saying change "PSNComms.dll" to "PSNComms.old".

I guess I will just try, and if it works it works, and if it doesn't...well, I'll have to try something else...

    Thanks again...

    ~*UPDATE*~

What an absolute nightmare technology can be.

So, I FINALLY got the scan screen to come-up without the error ('not connected to internet') message - however NOW I have a red "X" across the icon in the start-up tray!?!

Here's their "solution" (uninstall/reinstall --> http://www.cloudantivirus.com/forum/thread.jspa?threadID=51898&tstart=0) - which I am only too certain is MERELY going to put me back at square one - no?

Well, if for some reason you fail to get your problems figured out with Panda, there is always "The Immunet Project" you could try, it is also "cloud based" if that is what you are looking for in an antivirus and is found here: http://www.immunet.com/protect

Thanks. A "low-resource" program is what I'm looking for - and if cloud-technology will get me that, then that's what I'm interested in.

Any opinion on MS Security Essentials? Isn't this the same cloud-type of program? And how it might compare against Immunet & Panda's programs?

    Thanks again...

Wanted to come back to your reply here and thank you.

While I did not opt (have not yet opted) for immunet on the machine in question (in reference to this thread) which runs XP (Home), and has a very small HD, I DID add it to my Vista (Home) machine, and (so far) it seems to be working very well - for a full 24 hours now.

And (I'm happy to report) this is with my avast (v.4.8/free) AV running along with it.
    ;)

So thank you again for the suggestion!

PS ~ Worth noting (I think) that immunet recognizes and acknowledges avast as running in concert. As well to note, MS Security Essentials states to "not" run its program along-side any other AV prog. I am still unsure about any recommendations from Panda (on their "Cloud" AV) running along with another AV (??).

Just thought I`d let you know that I`ve been running Immunet on one of my Windows XP Home Media Edition SP2 machines which is also running Avast V4.8 free as you are for a while now, and have had no problems. Glad to see you got something up and running, wishing you good luck.

Hey thank you again ... am wondering now (and now that I have my Vista machine pretty-well hooked-up here) I'm still looking to better protect the XP (Home, w/SP3) machine. Have you seen any side-by-side type of comparisons between Immunet, Panda Cloud, and MS Security Essentials?

The whole reason for looking to cloud-type protection for the XP machine is simply because the machine is s~l~o~w (and I simply haven't been able to do much to change that - in years of trying).

The machine only has a 1.8 GHz processor but it's maxed-out with RAM (2Gig). I have start-ups to a minimum and the HD is only half full (though it is a small, 20GB, HD).

I really like avast (and as I think I mentioned, have it on my Vista Home machine), but now that I've taken it off of the XP machine, the machine is noticeably quicker.

Anyway, I'm in the process of trying-out Panda Cloud on that XP machine (and it's still a little buggy/glitchy), but would like to add some more AV protection to it, and not sure if I can (as I/we clearly can with Immunet).

    Thanks again and in advance,
    glenn...

As far as side by side comparisons go, I don`t really pay that much attention to them. On any particular day you will find people think one software is better than another, and on another day that opinion may be switched. There are just so many variables with computers. After 12 years of having at least 15 different computers with various OSs, softwares, and capabilities, I have figured it out, at least for me:-D. The software that is the best one for me, is the one that runs the best on the particular machine I am installing it on;). Sometimes it`s trial and error to find the one that fits your machine the best. I like you am partial to the new Avast at this present time, but I can remember not liking it 4 or 5 years ago, and switching to Avira which I just recently let go in favor of Avast. That`s like I have a 10 year old Compaq PIII running Windows 2000 pro and only 256 mb of memory, and it likes the new Avast, and actually runs better than when I had Avira on it. The reason I decided to add Immunet to the XP computer with Avast on it is because it is the wifes machine, and I need all the help I can get keeping the nasties off it because of some bad decisions she sometimes makes when she surfs the net. Hang in there man, sometimes the right decision for you/your machine is not so fast in coming, but it looks to me like you are touching all the bases, and that is a good thing.

Thanks again - understood and agreed. Compatibility pretty-much seems to be only EVERYTHING these days...

I think my next move may be to remove Panda Cloud from the XP machine, find/install a small (lightweight/thin) standard-type AV, and combine it with Immunet, since I like it so well (so far) on my Vista machine.

I hate to give-up so soon on Panda Cloud, but it's already had one bug I had to work through, and now has another that I've not managed to get-GONE ... additionally, I can't seem to find any assurance (one way or the other) as to whether I can run a standard Av along-with it or not (?).

I really appreciate that capability (as with Immunet), and MS Security Essentials specifically warns against it with their program.

    Thanks & Take Care!
