I used Panda Platinum Internet Security 2005 with no problems at all and found it to be so much better than the usual suspects (Norton etc) that I decided to buy the 2006 version. I am running Windows XP and blueyonder (Telewest) is my broadband ISP.

Since I installed the 2006 version I have been having major problems with my internet access. Basically I keep getting error messages telling me that the page is not found, and the only way I can connect to the internet is to reset my connection via the command prompt each time I log on - using nets winsock reset This fix was suggested by my ISP who has confirmed that there is no fault with my service or modem.

I have emailed Panda at the addy given on the box, only to get a reply a week later telling me that they had forwarded my query to the (unspecified) UK Panda help address.

In the meantime my internet connection is hit and miss. Sometimes the command prompt above doesn't work and I find that in that case switching my machine and modem off for a while and then switching back on again can help.

Am I going mad? Is there an obvious fix to this that I am missing? Please help before I tear all my hair out!

    Thank you.

Did you uninstall 2005 first before installing 2006? ( only ask as sometimes residual old files are left that could cause issues )

if you disable Panda as a test does your internet work ok?

I asked a question about Panda software a while back.. dont use the software as i'm not to fond of its GUI but wanted a query cleared up so I ended up with their full contact details for the uk, below if they help you,
they did take 2 days to reply tho!

Thanks for the contact details that is really helpful. I will get on to them straight away.
To answer your questions, I did uninstall Panda 2005, and yes I can access the internet when Panda is not running. But I am nervous to do that as I have broadband and somehow expect to get all sorts of nastie lurgies without the security protection. I guess I could enable the Windows firewall but I don't trust Microsoft products!

I will let you know how I get on with Panda UK. I wonder why my software had the USA contacts but no UK contacts? - I bought it from Amazon UK.

The windows firewall is fine for blocking incoming nasty data but is useless or basically non exsistant in blocking outgoing data, so if you were infected all your info would fly out!

by disableing Panda and the internet access being fine is a good test that the issue/problem is with panda and a setting in which I hope there support service can help you with... if not I would be asking for a refund as you can easily secure your PC free as myself and many others here do with some great freeware security software.

Please do update us/me to what panda say... but on the software they may have a central support address ( USA ) on the box, which then direct you to support in your country, but I had specifically searched for Panda UK so gained there UK site and support info email address.
