I have a Medion laptop, with Windows XP Home edition.
I have a couple of programmes that have not fully uninstalled in " Control Panel/uninstall programmes."
The bulk of the programmes have uninstalled, but still show their presence in the Programmes installed list.
Can anyone please throw some light on this.? Thanks. :)

What are the programs you are trying to uninstall? This information will help determine the best route to take.

Hi, I have the remnants of :- Party Poker & Kazza Lite on my " Remove / Add programmes list. I have uninstalled , or thought I had, both of these, but they are still showing in the list. Every attempt to remove results in the message that the files are not available and therefore the programme cannot be fully uninstalled.
Many thanks for your input. :)

This app is free, has several other tools available, and should help you with your problem. Best of all, it is available here at MG. Also, if you are not willing to try this, you will need to install .NET 2.0 in order to run it, you manually delete the files by going to Start-->Search-->file name and then delete each folder it shows you. If you take this route you will probably have to remove the entry from Add/Remove programs manually.

Just an FYI, many of these programs we list. IMHO, CCleaner is a great drive cleaner and can remove programs from add\remove list. MOST so called uninstallers only can properly uninstall what was installed AFTER the uninstaller was installed, so in this case, it would be useless.

Tools, uninstall, highlight program you want deleted from list and select delete entry. To be safe, check startup as well and the original installed to folder for leftover files.

Thank you very much for your help. I have downloaded the cleaner and although it has not done all that I hoped for, at least I feel a lot more comfortable with the situation than I did previously. I had the idea that these remnants were giving me problems with my Windows Media player, but I now realise that I was wrong in this assumption. I still have my Media Player problem, but I hope to resolve this myself. ( I have to start somewhere. lol. ) If I'm not successful with this, then perhaps I can come back and torture you with this one. :))) Thanks.

Or simply removing the key in questions: :)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Then click the certain key you want to delete.
