Partition Problem!!!

Hello! I've just ran into a problem deleting my old Windows XP O/S...I ran into a problem with it and reinstalled the XP O/S....Only I left the partition.So now I need help on hwo to delete the old O/S without tampering with the new one. I remember my uncle just wiping out text in a file before, but I don't know where the file is located or even what it is called...Please help me someone!!!

 

You got to edit the boot.ini to remove the unwanted os from startup.
Rightclick mycomputer>properties>advanced>startup and recovery,setiings>edit.

The 2 lines begining with multi are the two operating systems,You can identify them by checking the partition they use,the words in "quotes" are the name that is displayed in the operating system choosing menu.
To delete the os you dont want, just remove the corresponding line from the file and save.
Then you can log in the correct os and format the drive that contains the old os.

Incorectly editing the boot.ini it can make your system unbootable.
