Problems in order started like this:

    - 0xc00000e Error (at this point I could see all partitions in Diskpart, managed to identify where bootmanager was sitting using Windows 8.1 ISO dvd). I lead to believe it was a boot manager issue so,

    - then I continued using Windows ISO went into command prompt DISKPART, located where boot manager partition was and entered:

    bootrec /FixMbr
    bootrec /FixBoot
    bootrec /ScanOs
    bootrec /RebuildBcd

and now I ended up with flashing underscore far left of black screen and when I do go into diskpart I get now "there are no partitions on this disk to show ". All I see now is flashing underscore and black screen.

I would like to not lose my files and repair the boot manager, I am not interested in formatting (losing) contents on partitions or reinstalling. Where did all my partitions go? I had a working laptop before with files on it. I couldn't find a video that covers this problem "there are no partitions on this disk to show "
