Party Ideas

For the last 3 months, I have been trying to organise a Surprise 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary gathering/party for my parents.
Not having much of a clue who to invite, I rather sneakily looked through their address book ( xmas card list ) and sent out invitations to everyone listed
Out of 90 people invited, 77 have accepted therefore I am panicking a wee bit now and have that feeling that I have missed something out?!


I have booked the Club function room, organised the caterers for the Buffet and organised music. 50 Golden balloons and a Golden Wedding guest Book.

The gathering is very informal as stated on the invitations and is on a Sunday at 1pm.


Can anyone suggest anything else that I should be doing? I just have a feeling that there is something I have overlooked confused

What about decorating? Usually do that the day of or night before.

 

How lovely! Your parents will be pleased with whatever you do I'm sure.

You sound pretty organised...how about finding out what "their special song is" (surely every couple has a song?), and even including on the list music/songs from their particular era? Good memory jerker!

Should be great fun.

Grumbles, I don't think you can do anything wrong at this point. I think your folks will be thrilled that you took some time to have a party for them. Great to see people taking care of their parents.

Just get some kind of food, snack food or whatever your parents like. And if you want to serve some booze, here is a formula for you that my boss told me today. The average person has 1 to 4 drinks at a party. 1/3 will drink wine, 1/3 beer, and 1/3 drink the hard stuff. (on average!) When we set up for a party we always send extra and let them return the unused stuff.

I'm sure there will be cameras, but you may think of having a professional come in for a while just to be positive things are caught in all their glory.

 

On the camera theme, you can get a bunch of those disposable cameras and leave them out for people to take pictures of the party from their perspectives and then make an album out of the pics for your parents.

Lots of wonderful ideas, 50 years how wonderful and how wonderful of you and your wife doing it. Being a florist if I may interject. Have a florist reproduce the wedding flowers, or her bouquet from their wedding photos.
