I posted this on the newcomers page but I was the only one there!
If someone could refer me to a past thread I would appreciate it!

help needed! I'm limping along on a 6 yr old ME that freezes all the time so I must be brief! My granddaughter was given a functioning Win 2ooo professional 1.2G (or bigger)computer, worked for awhile but now the fellow who gave it to them can't remember the password so they are stuck on the "user name" (says administrator) password screen. Do they need to access the black with white letters opening screens? I believe that was a 1 keystroke deal which key?
better get this off before I freeze!

maybe next post will deal with my problems, I'll get my specs.

    lyn,
with 2k pro, you have to have username and password. If you don't have them, you're pretty much screwed. If you can get your hands on 2k CD, you can just reinstall OS with your own password.

Yea, you could just format it, and put XP on it, or 2k again, but not much you can do there, unless the people who owned it last had a bios password to access all of it which you can access when you boot it up.
