    Hello
Would Keepass be a worthy password manager?
I am not familiar with their function. For example, do they handle the key within your router?

hi peter, I use LastPass, which is probably similar, and don't know how I would manage without it. You do need to create and remember a very strong password, which is encrypted on your computer and sent to the server in encrypted form. That opens your vault so the password really does have to be strong. For added security you can use a second layer of protection requiring you to enter a code from a randomly selected cell on a code card. I have that selected for any computer other than my main one and that has its own password protection.

Despite all of that it did take quite some time for me to accept that it really was safe, but that was a couple of years ago. Now I use it routinely.

I was wondering if this is something you do once for all devices or for each device?
I will look into it further and thank you for your help, Bernie.

You have to install it on each computer you want it on, but using the same password each time.

Sorry, I realize this post is a few months old but Keepass and LastPass are quite different. While both are password managers, the main reasons many people gravitate toward Keepass is because it is open source and everything is stored locally. LastPass, on the other hand, is all about storing encrypted data on the LastPass servers. There are many pros and cons to both, but there are also numerous posts all over the internet that do the comparisons more justice than I could. I'm still deliberating on which route I want to take, but just know that these two are on the opposite end of the spectrum from each other. In the long run, almost any password manager is probably better than just reusing the same password for everything...but do your research and make sure you're getting what you truly want and need. :)

If you want to pay I use Roboform and it is great & you can have it on a USB key (Roboform2go).

ummm ubuntu and most debian distributions come with a password manager for free i believe its called passkey, but i could be wrong, either way, they make a windows compatible version of it, local storage, unix encryption, i wasnt even able to break into my own account while running an older version of redhat trying to get into it on 12.4 ubuntu. so far its the best ive used...
