Password Problem - Windows 7 And Iphone Mail Handlers

I have a PC running Windows 7, and an iPhone running 10.3.3.

I use Thunderbird on the PC as my mail client. I only rarely use the iPhone for sending mail, but I regularly read mail on it. Until recently I have been able to send and receive on either system. But now a problem has cropped up. I wrote an email, (on the phone) and tried to send it - only to get a 'Cannot Send Mail' message - 'username or password is incorrect'

I can check on Settings and see that the username (which is the same on bothWin7 and iPhone) is OK so the problem must lie in the Password on the phone.

What I need is some way of copying the password from Thunderbird to iPhone 'Settings'. It's so long ago I set these mail handlers up that I can't remember what password I used

 

You could use something like Asterisk Password Spy to reveal the password in Thunderbird.

 

Thanks for that, nullptr. I've down loaded AsterixPasswordSpy. I thought I knew where to find the Password in Thunderbird, but I failed!


If you can tell me where to find the asterisks (or dots?) for my outgoing mail I'd be very grateful. If you can't, I'll still be grateful to you, but please tell me, then I will post a fresh query, see if anybody else can help.

 

I don't currently use thunderbird but see if the chosen solution at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1181295 is still applicable.

 

Thanks again, _nullptr. We make progress. I now have the password. Now I need to get it into place on my iPhone mail handler,Thunderbird. From what you said earlier (not using Tbird) I'll go another route - there must be a support forum in T,bird. I'll bother them, now.
