password protected file

Hi,
I recently downloaded a file from the internet and it is a .rar file.
It is password protected.
Does anyone know of a freeware program that can crack .rar file passwords?
Also how about cracking other compression files like 7zip, .zip, izarc, etc.

Yup... Steve is totally correct.... if it's asking for a password, there's most likely something not 100% legit going on. In these cases, you're usually required to install a fake media player or some other utility to get the 'password', and the next thing you know, you have adult web sites flooding your desktop.... be VERY careful!

 

So you tried over here. I'm fairly sure Major Attitude or another Mod will be closing this thread shortly, just like I did where you tried to get password cracking help where I moderate. No offence and nothing personal, but you won't find password cracking help on many help forums. Heed the advice given by all.

 

I am not trying to do anything illegal - I downloaded a legal file and it is password protected, I just need to extract.

I apologise if I have broken the rules.
