does anyone here know how to effectively terminate a paypal account? I can find no vehichle on their site to do that. Thanks.

There is a way, I know, because I stopped one for my Dad recently. Look through the help and FAQs.

 

To effectively cancel you account with PayPal:

Because PayPal still has access to your checking account information, you are going to have to do the following. Go to your bank, explain the situation and request a new account number. It will more than likely be a pain in the butt, but that is the only way you can prevent Pay Pal from accessing your account information.
When you are asking your bank for a new account number, make sure that you request a new Debit / Visa Check Card as well. Also, make sure that you terminate all credit cards and any other checking accounts you have linked with Pay Pal and request replacment account numbers with the firm explaination of why. This will guarantee that Pay Pal has no access to any of your financial data.(from mark k's blog page)

Just be assured you are not the only one who has trouble with them.

You could phone them: I've had pretty good luck with their service, even if it does take a few minutes to get through to a human. Just don't trust any instructions on the website.

Found Ph # and was able to reach a human ( I guess), and terminated the account. thanks again.

Just learned today that someone (s) tried to charge about 1500.00 to my credit card. Bank caught it and disallowed it. Then called me and cancelled the card and issued another. I'm learning, I'm learning.

Stay The Hell Away From Paypal It Is Junk!!!!!
You Will Get A Statement From Your Card Company Garanteed That Has Chages On It From Internet Purchases And You Better Get It Canceled Or They Will Tranfer Money Western Union.i Know It Happend To Me Last Month 5k Large Call!call Now! Cancel The Account And The Card You Used And Change Bank Accounts Fast!!!

 

Good advise slayer...............Already done. Credit card was cancelled by bank and new one issued and I changed all personal PIN's etc. Sure turned out beter than it might have.

Hmmm...out of curiosity, why do you start every word with a capital letter, except the one that should be with a capital, such as "I" ?

Just to stay on topic, I had no problems cancelling my Paypal recently
