Great, let's see how we do.

My PC rebooted itself yesterday around 3:45 pm. That's unusual. Typically, when it reboots itself, it's always late at night.

    Greetings.

Your computer is overheating and critically so.

We still need to keep an eye on the memory issue which was/is a real issue but the overheating issue is far more critical.

I would like you to clean out all of the dust on the inside of the computer tower paying particular attention to the vents and fans. After cleaning please run the below.

    ===================================================

    Core Temp

    --------------------

NOTE: Many antivirus programs will flag this as malicious software but it is not. It can be safely downloaded and launched.
    • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications. Sometimes you can simply select that option after right clicking on the System Tray Program icon on the lower right corner of the screen
    • Please download Core Temp and save it to your desktop
    • If you receive a warning the file is malicious you can ignore the warning and download the file anyway
    • Right click on the icon and select Run as administrator
    • Click Next
    • Select I accept the agreement then click Next twice
    • Uncheck every item except for Create a desktop shortcut then click Next
    • Click Install then Next
    • Uncheck View Readme.txt then click Finish
    • Click Options then Always on top
    • Monitor the core temperature both at computer idle and while stressing your computer by launching videos, multiple programs, and high demand programs all at the same time
    • Please report the readings and especially the readings if your computer freezes, shuts down, or beeps
    ===================================================

I opened the tower and removed dust on the inside, and removed it from the outside vents.
Installer told me there's a new version available. Should I download and install that? https://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
I have attached a screenshot of Core Temp with only Firefox open to majorgeeks, plus File Explorer and Snipping Tool, plus an Excel file.

What temperature would it have to reach to be of concern?

What the screen shot shows is that your system is currently well within normal temperature ranges.

I am confident your computer freezes are not malware related. I suspect it is in some way related to a temperature, hardware or driver issue. Troubleshooting these types of errors are beyond my training or expertise. I would recommend you post a topic in Sysnative's BSOD Crashes, Kernel Debugging Forum. You will need to create an account. It will also be necessary to follow the posting instructions here. They are quite good at what they do and I am confident they will get you far closer to an answer than I am capable of.

I am posting the below to document some of my findings. I recommend you include a link to this topic so the information is available to Sysnative experts.

Temperatures still showing in normal range and no performance issues so far. Would you still recommend I post on Sysnative's?

If you'd like you can wait and see what happens. But if there is an unexpected reboot or system freeze I think you should post at Sysnative.

  12. wayne k

I'll continue to monitor the temperatures. What temperature would it have to reach to be of concern?

Oh My! Malware Expert Staff Member

If the temperature is higher than the typical temperature for the type of computer load described below, or if at any time it rises above the Maximum Operating Temperature.

    Idle: 30-50 Celsius = 86-122 Farenheit
    Gaming/Heavy Load: 60-85 Celsius = 140-185 Farenheit
Maximum Operating Temperature: 100 Celsius = 212 Farenheit

Excel and Word froze for a few minutes today. I'll have to post a topic on Sysnative. Thanks for all your help. Do you take donations or have a charity you would like donations sent to?

I expected that would happen. If you would, could you please post the Sysnative link here if you decide to post there. I am very interested in what happens.

I greatly appreciate your kind offer but I prefer to provide assistance as a free gift. However, if you still desire to donate I would ask you to consider donating to TruthforLife.org. I have been involved/volunteered with that ministry for 10+ years and highly recommend it.

It has been a pleasure working with you. I hope the smart people at Sysnative can get to the bottom of things.

I want to make a good first impression with Sysnative, but I am stuck on a few things for my first post. I thought the below info would be easy to find, but I have spent hours with no results.
    • CPU
    • RAM (brand, EXACT model, what slots are you using?)
    • Video Card
    • MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop)
    • Power Supply - brand & wattage (if laptop, skip this one)
    • Is driver verifier enabled or disabled?
Plus, I do not see any icons on the Post page to upload a file despite their instructions telling you to do so.

Also, if we're done, can you help me with cleanup of the stuff you had me download, or should I just remove all that software and related logs?

I apologize for the complicated instructions. BSOD is a complicated issue.

    Run this.

I am here to help you if you have any other questions or concerns. I want to get you up and running at Sysnative and the process there is more cumbersome than here.

This initial step when posting is to provide as much information as possible, within reason. Some of the information they will get from other sources, like the Speecy report they are requesting.

I would recommend you upload the SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip file to GoFile then post the download link in your Sysnative post.

As it relates to the list you posted:

    CPU
    Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3000 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

    RAM
    A-Tech 8GB RAM Replacement for Micron MTA8ATF1G64AZ-2G6E1 | DDR4 2666MHz PC4-21300 UDIMM Non-ECC 1Rx8 1.2V 288-Pin Memory ...
    PositionInRow : 1

    Video Card -
    Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630
    NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060

    MotherBoard
    Dell Inc. 0T2HR0

    Power Supply
**If you are able, open the tower and try to get model number information for the power supply. This may prove to be important because one of the potential causes for your issue is a bad power supply**

Is driver verifier enabled or disabled
    Disabled

Here are the cleanup instructions for our topic.

My PC has been performing well, thanks to you and sysnative. I haven't even added memory, which sysnative suggested. I still have Malwarebytes and Adlice which you asked me to download. I guess it would be a good idea to keep them and run them occasionally?
    Thanks again.

Thanks for the update. I think Malwarebytes is sufficient.
