    Machine is IBM 8090 ThinkCenter
    P4 3.0 GHz HT
    80GB drive
    1GB PC-3200 RAM
Fresh install on new full formatted drive of Windows XP Pro.(SP3)
    Already got all Windows Updates.
AV and anti-spyware programs installed and updated.Clean scans.
Runs fine, but after a period, mouse pointer goes flying around the screen by itself and different dialog boxes become popping in and out.At the same time,I lose internet connectivity.
Memory tested good with no errors.
    SpeedFan shows 145F.
Upon reboot, does OK for a short while.
Machines only purpose is folding. Only site it visits is F@H for new projects.
I truly would like to get this corrected.

Remove any AV or FW software. Does it still do it?

Running the VERY same firewall and anti-virus programs as its twin.
Second machine does not act like that.
Tried anyway, (whats to lose?) but after 15-20 minutes its reboot time again.

What are the dialogue boxes?Hit print screen when they appear and try to get them pasted to paint and saved, hit control alt del to bring up task manager, expand it until you can see all processes then wait for it to happen, see if a process spikes CPU usage as the phantom mouse movement starts and post it here.

Also go into control panel, admin tools, services and disable any services you don't need.

Have you tried leaving the comp idle not folding to see if you still experience the problem?Even though your cpu temp is OK something may be dying due to heavy load.

    Thanks for responding,Rikky.
Resolved by reinserting 40GB drive with Windows 2000 Pro installed
Same defenses and everything, but stable now for last 3 days.
    Will leave well enough alone.

That's not resolved it's like using a mac to avoid virus's:-D Oh Well if it works for what you need I guess it will suffice.

Working disk is one that had been in machine (with no problems) for over 3 months.
XP Pro on 80GB drive was just to install a game that was not compatible with 2000 Pro.
Seems that an 80GB drive was even too small for the game.
If anybody doubts, game is X-Plane 9.(Flight simulation game) Installing the entire scenery and planes took 74.6GB. Add on my OS and security programs, BOOM, there goes the entire drive.
