If desktop, open and check all plug-in connections and your RAM.
Sounds like something has popped loose.

I disagree with Harlow if something had come loose most likely it wouldn't turn on at all,it sounds to me as though your registry has become corrupt due to a forced shutdown causing windows not to load.

Can you elaborate on exactly what happens when you say F8 doesn't work,do you reach the windows advanced boot options page and can select the type of windows start or does your F8 key not work?

Are we dealing with a laptop, or desktop?

What make, model, and roughly what age?

    Did it hit the floor?

A hard drive can only take so much of a hit, especially if it is spinning at the time...

    :(

This is caused by an overheating CPU and if you have moved the computer your cpu fan could have come loose or the cpu heatsink could have come loose, looks like Hrlow was right:wave

See the large fan in the middle of the motherboard that's the cpu fan, check the fan connector to make sure firmly connected to the motherboard, pull it out anyway then push it back in firmly.

The heatsink is the large block of metal underneath it,with your fingertips just gently see if it's firmly attached to the motherboard.

Turn on the computer with the side of the case off, does the cpu fan spin up?

If it does start tapping F2 and enter the bios 'don't let it load windows' now go into the menu and look for a menu similar to 'pc health' now look for a reading labelled 'current cpu temp' and 'current system temp' and post the temperatures.
