It just goes here to where you see it. We both see it. Everything looks fine. Use your computer for a few days with the new restore point and if everything seems to be working, then get rid of the things mentioned in post 50.

    hi,
abri i did the hjthis scan with a restore pt. set. is that a mistake?
my daughter is getting the following message on her laptop when windows loads,
"Error occurred. See the logfile 'C:\Windows\RavMonE.exe.log' for details." she has an Hp laptop.
should she worry. did i send her a virus or trojan via email? i've asked her to run housecall. Also when she types in msword her letters are re arranged?? oh oh
when i booted my pc this morning a few minutes ago everything was going well but when i selected MyLogitech pictures" icon a dialogue box came up ..ms explorer encountered a problem and had to shut down. send don't send report.
then my pc froze. had to reboot.
    should i worry?
can i load trial version of photoshop cs2 or should i not do it, considering pscs2 gave me all my woes?

HijackThis is only a scan. It doesn't change anything on your computer unless you use it further to fix things. If you only did a scan, nothing has changed on your computer. Setting a restore point simply gives your computer a certain registry date to go back to in case something goes wrong. It's a very useful tool and doesn't harm anything.

Tell her to look in Windows Explorer for c:\Windows (if C is where her operating system is) and see if there is a file (not a folder) called RavMonE.exe in there. If she finds this, ask her to post to us herself. Does she have both an antivirus program and a firewall on her computer? I know Avast will pick that one up. If she doesn't have an antivirus program installed, she needs to install one and Avast is a good free one which she can download here. If she already has one, she should not download a second one, as it will cause conflicts to have two at once. If none of these work, please have her come to us and start her own thread. It's perfectly possible for her to get a virus without it coming from you.

I will get a second opinion about this.

Where are you trying to get the trial version from? Photoshop is now at version CS3.

if it's from Adobe, it'll be fine! :)
I did click on an Adobe trial version, however, that redirected to another site, so watch out for that!

    Hi Eric,

If your daughter's problems continue, please have her start a new thread.

There are a lot of people having trouble with Logitech. It's not a malware problem. Try reinstalling it and see if that takes care of it.

One thing which throws people is that problems sometimes occur together, so it's easy to think they are all related when they are not. If you've followed the instructions in How to Protect yourself from malware! I think you'll enjoy the feeling of surfing with less worry.

    hi people,
i still haven't heard anything about the scans i uploaded. i was under the impression some one was going to look at them and get back to me one last time. if i missed your post i'm sorry. yup, i'm aware restore pt isn't a scan but i thought i read in your read me first, page one was to disable restore pts before doing scans?

    Hi Eric,
I'm sorry for the somewhat chaotic nature of this thread. In addition to having four different people look at your logs (something which has been to your advantage), it's also been discussed in the background, so if some comments failed to make it to you, I apologize. Your most recent HijackThis log is fine. The logs in posts 37 and 38 already indicated your computer was clean. Chas asked you to run the Jotti on your Internet Explorer to make sure there was no problem with that and the log showed it to be okay.

As to resetting a new restore point, in an older version of the READ & RUN ME FIRST near the beginning of the text, there was mention of resetting a fresh system restore point, followed by the comment "but don't do this until the end". This was removed entirely, because it led to a lot of confusion. I'm not sure when this was taken out. We prefer to keep even an infected system restore point until we're sure the computer is clean, because having even an infected system restore point to go back to can help in certain instances. I noticed you'd reset it before the scan, but once it's been reset, there isn't a way to go back and it didn't seem in your case like we were going to need it so I didn't comment on it.

    Hey Eric!

It was a pleasure! I worry alot about my own computer so I can empathise with people who come here for help! I find the complexity of computers intriguing.

You may find this site helpful in general. Lots of tips and information to enjoy.
