My computer monitor is suddenly not turning on with the PC anymore, and I have to unplug it and plug it back in every time to get it to work. It's not a massive issue I suppose, but I'm concerned that it might worsen and eventually not turn on at all anymore. It seems to have happened randomly. The monitor worked perfectly fine when I first got it, I could shut my computer off and when I turned it back on, the monitor turned on with it just fine. Now the computer just sits on a black screen until I unplug the monitor and plug it back in. I can restart the PC and the monitor will work fine, but a full shut down and it gives me issues.

It started randomly. I unplugged the PC and moved it into another room to play with a roommate. Nothing bad happened to the computer that I'm aware of. Once we were done playing I unplugged it, took it back to my room, and it's been doing this ever since. The power did go out at one point and suddenly shut down the PC, but the monitor turned on just fine after many shut-downs after that (while it was still hooked up in my roommate's room, it was in there for a good week or so). It's been doing it ever since I put it back in my room.

My PC is Windows 10, 64 bit, CyberPowerPC, Processor is Intel Core i5, CPU is 3.70 ghz and 8 GB of RAM. In case it matters, my monitor is very old. It's a Dell that uses VGA, and I had to get an HDMI adaptor to get it to even plug into my much newer PC. But as I said before, it worked perfectly fine at first so I don't see why it would be a compatibility issue.

First, check all your cable connections on the computer and monitor to make sure they are securely fastened. If they are, I recommend borrowing another monitor to connect to your computer to see if it works properly. If the second monitor works fine, you know the problem is in your monitor. If the second monitor fails to work properly, the you know the problem is in your computer.

And you might try a different monitor data too. They don't suddenly go bad, but connectors can be damaged or pins can bend or break.
