   my Norton ran out 6 months ago and i havent had anti virus since , also i havent had any anti spyware
   
   what is the best free software to use ? anti virus and anti spyware ?
   
   also do i need a firewall ? and some kind of cleanup program would be awesome !, im intending to strip my comp back to its bare essentials and then keep it in gr8 condition
   
   any help is really appreciated

   Yes I would use a software firewall as it just gives that extra layer of protection.
