    Hi guys !!
I have a big problem with my PC.
I bought my system 6 months ago and everything was fine till 1 week when my PC started to shut down itself automatically after I play ANY game !! For example I start to play CS:GO. When I'm on game menu (Play / Settings / ETC) everything's just fine, but when I enter a game with other players, my PC shuts down in about 5 seconds. What's really weird is that when it shuts down, he remain like that about 2-3 seconds and then it powers up again. So it's like a reboot but.. it's not a reboot...

Same thing happens on every game I play, even if it's League of Legends or Grand Theft Auto V !!

NOTE: It's not from overheating, my temps are pretty cool..
NOTE 2: Sorry for my bad English, I know I suck at this language ^^

    My pc specs:

    OS : Windows 8.1
Video card : NVIDIA GeForce 660 GTX (2GB 192 BIT)
    Memory ram : 8 GB
    CPU : QuadCore Intel Core i5-2400, 3200 MHz (32 x 100)
    HDD : ST3250310AS ATA Device (250 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II)

Is it only with online multiplayer/co-op that you get the shutdowns, or does it work OK during offline or single player online?

Make model# and age of the PSU?

I'm suspecting a bad networking driver/hardware but it could well be some VPN/security software or remnant of.

It's not only for online games, this problem appears when I play offline games too... to be honest, any kind of games..

As for PSU, I think you're talking about this : http://i.epvpimg.com/3Ebkd.jpg
It's not .. old. One of my friends gave it to me 6 months ago and it worked very well ... until now.

The PSU looks like an older (10+ years!) design, not suitable for modern PCs with PCIe graphics, the most important rail is the 12v now, yours has the highest rail as the 5V.

Your rig needs a good quality (Seasconic/XFX/BeQuiet/... ) 450W+ PSU, my 360W would just run it, that has 30A on the 12V rail.

Aim for something higher, like 37-45A if you can afford it, also aim for 80+ Bronze efficiency (this would mean a newer design, and should be better quality), 16-20A on the 3.3v and 5v rails will be enough, 20A on both would be better.

EDIT: Change it quickly, once those older PSUs begin failing, they can go bad very fast, that could mean it burns out your other hardware as well!

Okay mate, thank you very much I'll try to change my PSU as fast as I can and I'll come up with a reply if problem persists !!

Good luck - and if you can't go straight out and shop for a quality PSU (if you need time to save up), you should be able to remove the 660 and run the PC on the IntelĀ® HD Graphics 2000 via the rear motherboard connector :) It'll only be enough for basic graphics but it should remove most of the strain from the PSU.

    Hi Alex,

As far as I can tell, this might still be a relatively old design (probably using cheaper/lower quality components), it was made by Sirtec (~10 years ago, they built PSUs that were classed as average for some OK brand names, I can't find many made by them now, reviews are rare), the specs look OK but I'm seeing that PSU as classed as 80+ efficient.

I wouldn't recommend it - why don't you link us to the PSU pages of some of your local suppliers, we should be able to find a reasonably good quality PSU that way.
