here's the problem.....when I shut down my PC....it turns off it's not in sleep or hibernation mode because it goes through a full boot sequence on start up.....but the system fans stay on and the power and HD led's on the case stay on.....the only other thing I noticed is during boot up one of the first screens that come up is a screen from FIC my motherboard manufacture and its a mb system utilities screen..... other than that it boots normally.....I tried reseting bios to default.....and system restore...chkdsc.....no luck....any ideas...????
    thanks

    Hi and welcome to MajorGeeks.

What operating system are you using?

It sounds like it's going into Standby instead of shutting down?

Right-click your desktop, properties, then on the ScreenSaver tab click power and make sure all your settings are what you want.

I would think that in order for fans to stay on after shutdown, the fans would have to be on the 5V standby circuit (necessitating 5V fans) or your PSU would have to be one of the new ones that have sort of a 12V standby circuit that keeps some of the fans running for a bit after shutdown - supposed to help with the longevity of your components. I think the XClio PSUs come with a feature like that and perhaps some of the newest Antecs (both are actually made by Channel Well, BTW).
. As far as the kbd lights, etc. You may have them set up to be able to power on your system from the kbd and/or mouse. Sometimes that is just a setting in the BIOS setup and other times there are jumpers on the mobo as well. That functon requires the kbd and mse to be on the 5V standby circuit for it to work, thus the lights stay on.
