Alright, so I have this new motherboard, an ASUS P5NSLI with NVIDIA nForce chipset, well, I just went out today, and bought a 3D FUZION NVIDIA 7300 LE graphics card for $79.99, I also had to get a 20 to 24 Pin power supply connector for my 350W Power Supply, and I also have a Pentium D 805 Dualcore processor, I also have a Zalman Ultra quiet cooler with LED.

So anyways, I just got everything installed, and put into my case, I was excited, I was planning on getting on it right away, so I made sure the 7300 LE was plugged into the PCI-Express slot correctly, and proceeded to boot it up, as I did, everything started, and then shut down immediately after.

I'd like to know if anyone can help me with this problem? I've been wanting to get on it for a week now, and this is such a disappointment, any help would be helpful.

(I also tried clearing the CMOS, still a no go. Atleast I think I did)

Edit: Also, I can get it to boot up, and stay up...BUT, my monitor stays blank..

Monitor, Video Card, Power Supply. Which is the problem, or which combination of... the fact you can boot up is a good thing, try swapping monitors, reinstalling the original video card, upgrade power supply.

Nice board, especially for the money.
I imagine you have already tried this route,

Hope it works out, it is a wonderful thing to have that "light" turn on. :cool

I would guess your power supply is not good enough. See if you can borrow a 450Watt or more PSU to try it out.

FredG,Bugballou, could be on the right lines, BUTalso could be faulty ram.ETC:
    To eliminate ,
1/ remove graphics card, disconnect monitor.
    2/ disconnect cd/dvd rom
3/ Remove ram, and only put 0ne stick of ram in, making surs it clicks home.
    4/ Start Computer,
    5/ Listen for motherboard beeps.
If no beeps are heard check that the power cables from psu, and return (4 point plastic connection, are fitted into motherboard properly.
If it beeps, write down the sequence ( 1, 3, 1-1-1, whatever.)
If you have beeps, and the cpu fan ,and power supply fan are working, shut down. Remove power lead. Put your graphics card in, and restart, pressing del, or f2, whichever for your motherboard to go into Bios, SET TO DEFAULT, PRESS F10, Y, ENTER TO RETURN AND REBOOT INTO Windows, or start up.
Follow these steps, and come back with the progress, or, halted computer time, an we can all help from ther, before you have to spend anything.

I'm thinking power supply also. What brand PSU are you using? Those 24pin converters puts more strain on a 20pin PSU and if it can't adjust properly then power will cut off.

Like Fred G stated, borrow one or use a buy/free return policy.

Decent PSUs are cheap now, and in some cases almost free (after rebate).

I agree that a better psu is relatively cheap -
Graphics card needs a 350W PCI Express compliant system power supply
Is your power supply pci express compliant - if not then I agree on power supply probability,

The blue slot takes the 16x card

Your motherboard manual says it needs 24 pin, and 12 v plugs. and ATX 12V 2.0 COMPLIANT. - has your old psu got the 12v (4 point square plastic plug) ? - If it has not the power supply will not have its 'activating lead, so will not fire up.Page 12 (xii)

If power is going to the board, the green standby light should be on.(page 1-7 (21 of 24 )

If that light is on, I suggest you run the basic tests , first -
