PC Shutting Down

    my pc keeps shutting down with no warning. it just goes black. on one ocasion my firewall said someting about highjacking but my pc shut off before i could see what it was. i have all the spyware and ad-aware, and have previously done all those spyware removal scans. i have windows xp home edition service pack 1 thanks , allen

    I assume you mean you have all the spyware and adware removal tools! Having the spyware and adware itself is not what you want.


    When is previously?

    Have you run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal and have you run them since getting the problems.

    In two weeks a lot can happen to a PC. Please run the clean up steps again.

    Were you having these problems two weeks ago?

    it started today, but when this started i go those alerts from my firewall saying something about highjackting which seems weird to me. this has probibly happened 5 or 6 times in the last two hours. one time and one time only, a blue screen popped up saying something about scanning my drives. it was a windows xp screen. but i dont know if that something to worry about.

    Follow the below steps:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.


    After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
