First off I would like to thank this forum. As a PC Tech it has helped me out on some of the more difficult jobs I have seen.

My question here is, are there any tutorials out there that would teach me how to interpret HJT logs? Or is this something that can only be learned by experience? I would like to be able to look at, and utilize, these logs without having to bother someone on this forum.

    Thanks

Yes, there are at least a couple of them, here's one that I've used.

I'm not an expert with this program but, using the tutorial, I can at least get the obvious entries fixed.

What's interesting is if you run this program on a freshly installed OS, you will see how short the results are.

But this tool is far from an end-all for detecting and removing malware. If you have followed the sticky in the malware forum, you'll know what I mean. Usually after cleaning a machine, this is the last program I'll run.

HijackThis logs while useful, do not conclusively tell you if a PC has malware or not; and when used, be well aware that it only removes the "Startup" for any entry that is "Fixed".
