i was just wondering,:

A. if i downloaded a film, could i burn it to a disc?

B. if i bought a dvd could i copy it to disc or is it protected or something?

 

BTW currently i am running xp proffesional, i was wondering, since the new pc has xp media center, is it the same setup, IE bar along the bottom, click start to access programs etc

 

Yes. You can burn AVIs and MPEGs directly to CD (if they fit).

Yes. You can take an image (.ISO) of a disc to hard drive, then burn that image to a DVD.

Yes. Media centre is XP Professional, only with extra software to make it a Media Center. This will include software to connect to a TV, and IIRC to better manage your music and movies.

 

ok, but will i still have the bar along the bottom of my screen which shows my running programs,a start button in the corner etc

ok, but why have i seen pictures that have no bottom bar...?

 

It was cut out. Or it was hidden. There's an option to make it vanish off the bottom of the screen until you move near it.
