PC troubles...

Hello,

You guys helped me out last fall when I encountered spyware issues and now I suspect more issues as my laptop has been starting up/shutting down extremely slowly and am experiencing issues with google when after searching I try to visit a result and it links me to some random website.

Yesterday I began to follow the READ & RUN ME FIRST steps to try and clean out my system but encountered issues when trying to run Spybot - Search & Destroy in safe mode, it said I didn't have the update so I could not run it. I decided I would restart into normal mode, update it and start over again with the steps. When trying to restart my system kept stopping loading at the Applying your settings stage and it took me multiple attempts to successfully get it to restart using manual restarts. I ended up getting it to fully load, although slowly, after using F8 to ge tthe safe mode menu and choosing the option for starting using the last known successful settings.

Now that it has loaded I am afraid to try and restart again in fear that I will not get it to load at all and I need this laptop for school right now. Please let me know what I should do.

Alright, I completed the steps in the READ ME in safe mode with networking. I will attach the activescan report and HJT log, I goofed up with the bdscan and saved it as a html file so I can't attach it but it found 2 things: "C:\Program Files\AIM\Sysfiles\WxBug.EXE=>wise0008" which was deleted and "C:\Program Files\AIM\Sysfiles\WxBug.EXE" which update failed.

Spybot S&D found a reg key named Pipas.A which was fixed.

Also, just to let you know, I use this laptop on the network at my school and they install a special image on them so I just wanted to make you aware of this just in case some things in the HJT log look different. I just don't want to damage any of the settings they put on it.

I saved the bdscan1 file as a txt from the html file I had. Please just delete if this is not proper.

 

In HJT do you want me to fix those 2 items or just see if they are still there? Also should system restore be on or off before I do this?

It seems like its gone... I ran a couple google searches and was not linked to any random websites. Also, I could not access my school's network drive before and now I can, I assume this wareout was preventing me from accessing it? Anyways, I appreciate your time, this forum is great.

Should I disable system restore, reboot, then turn system restore back on?
