well as title says my pc turns off when playing games. some do some dont. like i played resident evil 5 for hours and nothin happened but i cant play games like cabal, nba 2k10 for wery long. i tried reinstalling windows a few times. xp sp2 then sp3 and now i got 7 but doesnt help. all google can say is heating or dust which is not the cause. and its not a virus, also got all the latest drivers. any ideas what could be causing this?

    4gb ram
    geforce 8300 - 3x 2,7ghz
    geforce gts250 1gb vid card

Welcome to MajorGeeks razzor. :cool I suspect you have a hardware issue, (overheating, weak power supply) or perhaps should try a different driver for the card.

You should make a post in the Hardware Section http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22

Or perhaps a mod will move it for you. Can you give a bit more info about your box? What brand PSU, how many hard drives, optical drives....

I suppose that's GPU temp? Could you check your CPU temp as well?

actually thats my gpu temp :D just tested it:

    when standing still:
    all 3x cpu's- 27C
    GPU- 54C

    right before shut down:
    all 3x cpu's-34C
    GPU- jumped around 64-60C

i used Everest to measure temps so as i said before its not a temperature problem :)

plxplx sum 1 solve this problem 4 me

    What he said. :p

Serisouly, what is your CPU temperature just before/after crashing? Your PC is acting as if it is over-heating, and to let the CPU do that over and over and over is bad for it. These things can burn out...

right before crashing it was 34C and normally its 27C when doin nothin

I would check your PSU's voltage output while gaming, or stressing the system.

There are several, Everest will give you readings. I have found software readings to not be very accurate. I would buy an inexpensive Digital Multi Meter and test the voltage.

I got this problem to, and the only thing i did was put in a new ASUS ENGTS250 1gb card. Before i had a radion 2900xt 1gb and never had a problem. I got a 1000W PSU so that cant be the problem, also my computer dosent get warm only like 40c like always bit warmer when gaming. Can it be the GTS250 cards have somekind of error?
