Ok, so this is my first time putting things in or out of a PC so I dont understand what I am doing but I am determined to get my PC functioning again... basically I had a friend help me try to put my new parts in, basically building a all new PC by gutting the old one... however after it was done the computer would screech and beep uncontrollably.. so iv decided to bring it to a person to put it together for me, however! I need my PC for a while first, I want to put my old stuff back in and my friends completely bailed on me, iv been working on this for hours now and iv gotten it all plugged in and put back together despite never doing this before ever in my life, however one problem... theres no picture coming onto my monitor, it worked before so i doubt its the monitor and I cant see any ampty plugs on the motherboard, iv pluged all but three plugs into my PC from my power supply.

My 4 pin peripheral power cable due to the fact that there is no visible plugs that it fits into

my Floppy drive power cable, same thing, cant find a plug for it.

and my PCI-E cables, which I have heard go into the graphics card, but my Zotac geforce GT 630 2GB doesnt seem to have any need to be connected to the power supply and thus not a single place on it to be plugged into...

Iv checked to make sure my graphics card is mounted properly and my ram sticks, iv plugs both my fans in which everything seems to be spinning when i turn it on.

the exact problem so far is that when i push the on button everything seems to go on and turns off again with no problem, however no image to the monitor, when I unplug and than plug the connecter cable betwene graphics card back and monitor i see the light turn blue for a moment, but gos orange again after a while with no other visible changes...

I cant think of anything left to do, and i really need help!

    Welcome to Major Geeks! :)

More information on your computer would be helpful, as the make and model if a commercial PC (HP, Acer, Dell, etc.) or if a custom build the make and model of the motherboard. This is very important.

Also, since you said there were upgrades attempted, please describe what exactly were the upgrades attempted, and what components did you put back when the upgrades failed? I gather from your post you think the computer is booting ok, it's just a video issue, so I am operating under that assumption.

A few generic things you can check:

--The most simple check (and it happens more than you'd think) is the video cable plugged into the right port on the motherboard? Many motherboards come with an onboard video solution, and often when in a hurry people will plug the video cable into that port, and not the port on their add-on card. Result . . . no beeps or alerts, but no video.

--Check the video cable for any obvious damage. If possible, try a different cable. For future reference do not unplug video cables while a computer is on . . . this can damage your video card

-Shut everything down, and unplug the computer from the wall socket. Lay the computer on its side on a table and pull the side off. Touch the case with your bare fingers (the metal edge normally covered by the side panel is good) to make sure you have no static charge built up in your body. Each time, before touching anything inside the case, it is a good idea to do this. Static electricity can damage electronic devices.

--Make sure the video card is seated properly, and is in the proper slot for the card. I know you said you have done this, but for the sake of completeness, do it again and make sure there was no debris or dust in the slot. It happens.

--If the computer still fails to generate video, it's possible the video card is damaged. Does the motherboard have onboard video? If so, see if using the onboard graphics produces an image.

If this doesn't work (or there are no onboard graphics) then we need to do some more indepth trouble shooting . . . and for that we need more information on your computer, and also what upgrades were tried and failed.

The more information you provide, the better the people here can assist you.

You also need to specify what new parts were put in like: motherboard, power supply, graphics card, cpu, heat sink, video card, sound card, hard drive, optical drive, etc.
