a mac is still a pc (personal computer). common thing people use now to call windows systems PCs and Mac systems Macs. Basically just for media coverage and what not. the PC vs Mac commercials just show how retarded the media has gotten over the differences. Giving computer users each a lifestyle depending on what OS they use. Windows and MacOS(i think thats what its called anyway) are the 2 operating systems with different versions. Windows for the "PC" and MacOS(i think) for the Mac.

people commonly use Macs for media editing. videos pictures whatever. mac has really good software for that kind of thing. Windows is more often used for everything else i guess. gaming is a big one, network administration, and more often used as end user computers in production networks.

theres a lot more to it. huge differences in operating system development. im not a programmer, but theres my 2 cents.

Basically the difference is hype, imo. Apple has good marketing.

If you are going to do graphic intensive stuff, a Mac would probably be a good investment. (although you can get very good graphic stuff for Windows).

I think Apple has come a long way as far as software compatability, but you are still going to find way more software for Windows.

Windows are also much more customizable, just from the sheer quantity of choices out there.

    Gaming...go Windows.

People say that you can't get viruses on Macs, but that's actually not true in theory. It is true, however that the people who are making the viruses/malware target Windows though. As Mac gains ground in market share, I think you'll see some issues with malware.

It all has to do with taste, I guess, and what you are going to use it for. Really you can't go wrong with either if you ask me. Although you will get a ton more for your money with a Windows computer.

If you have specific needs, you'd be better off posting them so people can give you a more educated opinion.
