    C:\PROGRAM FILES\PC WIZARD 2005\WEB\IS-C800J.TMP
    File contains: Heuristic/Trojan.Downloader\

downloaded PCWizard 2005 from Major Geek's Com. which is a reliable site BUT my Antivir9x anti virus program reports it contains a "Heuristic /Trojan Dialer" which it also stores in my system restore but always with a different file name.

Every time I restart the set up program PCW2005_V165.exe it loads a different named file in PCWizard2005\WEB\ (always a different name with the extension).tmp and Antivir9x reports what ever file name is place in WEB as a trojan and deletes it.

After set up the PCWizard seems to run fine without the deleted file. However when I tried using AVG antivirus it did not detect anything wrong.

Can you tell me if this FREE program PCWizard2005 contains a trojan?

Oh the .tmp file is usually given a name like IS-236FT.tmp or C800J.tmp and then it is renamed to something like WEBUFDT.exe and other names and stored in System _restore file for one and it may be also placed in other places. I found this by closing my antivirus program and letting the setup run and then traced the trojan file down by restoring the antivirus program.

    Welcome to MG Ramars.:)

I have downloaded and scanned PC Wizard 2005 and it comes back clean for me. There are certain 'legit' programs that will set off virus software saying you have a trojan when in fact you don't...for example, a keylogger you have chosen to install.

In this case, I am not familiar with the program or how it works so I really can't say what is going on other than what I said above. I have alerted the site owners about this situation so you can expect a response after they check everything out.

Thank you but I can assure you there are no 'legit' programs that will set it off on my computer. Download and use the FREE antivirus program I used to detect it if you like. I am sure it is a trojan because it keeps changing the name of the file it stores to a random name. This is not a legitimate thing.
I don't think they take my report seriously but a dialer can cost you anywhere from $25 to several hundred dollars a minute and I think someone has put something over on Major Geeks.

It is virus free. Take into account the job of any virus is to hide its source as much as possible. You could have gotten it anywhere and just being notified now. Its done thousands of downloads problem free and no one here can find a virus.

    Thats that.

And to add to what MA &AbbySue stated. I just now installed AV Personal on a PC that had no AV program installed. I did a full scan and system was clean. I then installed PCWizard. I received no warnings from AVPersonal. I ran PCWizard. I still received no warnings.

Also note that WEBUPDT.EXE is the update program and it more then likely does place temporary files in that folder during updates.
