PC won't book to XP CD for reinstall..what 2 do?

I know that this CDROM works, however it won't boot to my XP disk so that I can reinstall the OS. What can I do to get around this??

go into the BIOS and change the boot order. CD ROM should come first.

 

I have. The CD is to boot first, then the floopy then the HD. I've tried an copied XP disk, and real XP disk and a real 2000 Pro disk. None of which work. When it does bootup it wants to finish a Win98 install and is asking for the Product ID code - which I don't have.

 

If you can get hold of a boot CD with partition tools on, you can format the HDD before you try a new install.

Edit: unless that Boot CD creator is Hudini and mystically produced some legal serials for a few of those apps that disk is illegal.

All too often do I find floppies end up being bad on me.
