PC wont recognize video card

Several months ago I installed a new 1G video card. All was well. earlier today I opened up my pc to clean out the dust. closed it up. plugged it in and then the problems showed up. system went to the original on board card and will not show that there is another card in the system. I have done a full install of the video card.. still it will not recognize the card. I have taken the card out then put it back in.
I know its a big no no but I did open up the pc while it was running to see what was going on... the fan on the newer video card was moving... so there is power going to the card. the system just doesnt know its there it seems. thoughts??:cry
Card is Nvidia Geforce 8500 GT

 

Some bios allow you to specify the video as onboard, AGP or PCI. Make sure your not specifying the internal video adapter specifically.

If there was a lot of dust in the computer, try removing the video card and blow out the slot it goes in, make sure the video card edge connection is clean and undamaged and try the installation again.

 

Someone had suggested i may have killed the video card with static by accident when i was cleaning out the dust.
I wasn't have any issues with the card until yesterday morning after I cleaned out the dust.

 

That's a possbility unfortunatly, not sure how to check, you will have to wait for someone else to troubleshoot for you.

 

Have you tried reseating the card yet?

How did you clean the computer?
