i have a Compaq Presario 1501CL with one card slot. i purchased Netgear wireless card and the slot would recognize it for a second then not. i tested it with a different card and it would recognize it for a second then not. So i figured it needed drivers... The pci card slot is Texas Inst. PCI 1410 Cardbus controller so i found a driver on the net (pcmcia.inf) then it wanted pccard.vxd. i found one of those on the net also, but both seemed to be for old systems (win95 or so).

Can anyone help me out here... do i need to buy a new pci card slot?

What is the model of the Netgear wireless card? Every retail Netgear product I've ever seen came with a driver/software CD.

http://www.netgear.com/ is their main site. There's a product finder menu there from which you can select the model of the card you bought, and you should be able to download the correct drivers.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,
