PDFs Only Print to Uninstalled Printer???!!

Vista Business SP2 formerly had Dell Photo AIO 926, but uninstalled then ran patch from Dell to completely uninstall. Only printer connected is HP. When trying to print from and PDF program, the only option is the Dell which no longer exists! Even hand-picked through registry, ran cleanup utilities, debugged for malware et al. Even reinstalled/uninstalled old Dell printer. HELP!

Have you set your new hp printer as the default printer in control panel - printers and faxes? And removed the dell from there if its still listed?

Vista won't allow you to set the new printer as default, As soon as you click 'set as defaut' nothing happens!

Uh, it should, what if you delete the other printer, it should auto switch the default to the remaining printer.

Hi

I'm with Colemanguy and it should allow you to change to default, but I just wonder if the cause is some registry cleaning apps etc so what I would suggest is to run sfc /scannow to check the integrity of Windows files.

Do this from an elevated command prompt (click Start > in the start search box type CMD and right click it and choose Run as Administrator) and then type sfc /scannow and hit enter *note the space between c and /

Also are you logged in as the admin on this PC?
