I am using a linux installer to convert the iso for it to be bootable from an sd card/usb flash drive

However whenever i hover over the ''pear os'' from the drop down menu i cannot select the pear linux iso because it doesn't even see it.

    Any ideas why?

    I am aware of that

But should this even matter? I assume the program would just convert it regardless if its discontinued

I already have the iso, the linux installer just doesn't detect the iso for some reason.

Have you already downloaded the PearOS iso onto your machine, or trying to create a LiveUSB from a website? If PearOS is NOT already on your machine, the link may be faulty for the reason Plodr pointed out.

If already downloaded to your hard drive, what "linux installer" are you using? UnetBootin? Startup Disk Creator? Need more info. If the ISO is on your machine and you're using the default Startup Disk Creator in Ubuntu 13.10 (if I remember correctly, that's what you successfully installed...the hard way ;-) ), I'm inclined to suspect a corrupted PearOS ISO file or Startup Disk Creator. If you can create "other" LiveUSB sticks, we can rule out the program and focus on the ISO.

Your MD5 Checksum may indicate a corrupt ISO file, but I don't know how to check that with the host site no longer available. What version of PearOS are you interested in? When I learned PearOS was on "hiatus" I quickly downloaded some ISOs "just in case". I previously had version 7-64bit, and I recently grabbed the most recent version 8, 32bit AND 64bit versions. Glad I did, as downloads are disabled from the site now! Depending on the version you're interested in, I may be able to help provide a replacement?!

Lastly, PearOS is a very cool and interesting distro. But now, FWIW, I would personally refrain from installing on a machine (especially a production machine), until we find out if the old or new developer is going to support the distro, fix yet-undiscovered bugs, etc...
By all means, put it on a LiveUSB and play with it; install as a VM and enjoy; install on a spare "test machine"; but be wary of any technical support you MAY NOT receive...perhaps ever? I'm sure the forum of users may be of assistance, but the world of Linux software is littered with "bugs" that haven't been addressed yet for ACTIVE projects...I'm not sure how a "dormant" project will be addressed, if at all. Just be wary... Otherwise, enjoy it!

I cant recall the exact website i got it from i think it was called source something can't remember exactly.

I got the pear 8 version.

I am using linux usb installer 1.9.5.2

    http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/

I have it used it to create other linux distro bootable of sd and pen drives without any issues. I just made a bodhi and zorin one a couple of days ago.

Of course i am aware that since it is discontinued i will never have support for it, i just simply wanted to mess with it on a usb/pen drive stick. I never actually intended to use it as a secondary OS from another partition in my hard drive.

If i am able to create a cd version of this and have it working on a pc i assume this rules out a corrupted iso? I haven't burned it on a cd yet however my sole intention was to use it as an sd bootable OS

You are correct Nexus. If you can create a LiveCD that boots, we can rule out a corrupted ISO. If the ISO is corrupted, I can provide you a PearOS 8 ISO, 32bit or 64bit. Just say the word...

So i got another Iso from another website for them

Then tried the program and it worked. But i was still thinking why the other ones weren't even showing up i check the file sizes and they were both the same so the other ones should have worked.

After i testes pear 8 on the sd cards i renamed the other isos to what the working ones were named with and that solved the issue. The isos were now viewable by the program.

Put the iso file and converted it then tried it on a pc and it worked the iso wasn't broken. Turns out the isos can't be renamed or else the program might not detect them
