Peculiar Problem with CorelDraw 11 and XP

A friend has CorelDraw 11 installed on his XP system. I too have CorelDraw 11 installed on my XP system.

Every once in a while ... for no reason that he can fathom, CorelDraw 11 will ask for a "valid serial number". When he tries to input his valid serial number, it won't accept it.

The last time this happened, he kept re-entering said number and finally, the program accepted it. However, it's happened again and despite numerous attempts to enter the valid serial number ... the program won't accept it.

I have suggested that he try reinstalling the program ... because I think that the file wherein the serial number is stored is probably corrupt for some reason.

This lead me to a question ... where are program serial numbers stored? Are they kept in dll files? ... are they referenced in the Registry?

Just why said file or location would become corrupt seems to defy explanation ... although since this computer was "built" for him, I am not sure of the components.

    Any ideas?

Actually I don't know if Jeff has the Service Packs installed or not. I have them ... but I'll have to check with him.

    Thanks!
