peltier???

    are there peltier chips out there to cool your cpu? if there isn't how come? I'm wondering.

    I just did a search on it (shoulda done that before posting sorry). I might give it a shot. I'd basically be getting one for free. Its used to cool down a cpd in a camera that costs 16k so i'm guessing its a quality chip.

    well, there's a whole lot more to it. you'll need a peltier rated at a higher wattage than your CPU, so if you have, say, a prescott running at 103watts, you'll need a pelt rated over 103 watts (probably a 172 watt will do). and you also have to remember that you'll be needing to cool down 103 + 172 watts of heat == 275 watts! you'll definitely need water for that. and moreover, you have to account for condensation on the chip; water + electronics don't tend to mix.

    thx for the info. I'll check it out. fortunately i have an extra computer lying around that I could test it out on. The radiator deal sound great, but this peltier deal would be free so its interesting to think about.
