Hi I have a tablet pen, the Wacom I've had for a while, there's no touch functionality like on the newer models. I use it as a mouse replacement. Windows 7.

The cursor started jitering around the screen. Like it is just spazing out all over. At first I thought it was broken, then I tested it on another PC and it works fine. Then I bring it back to the first PC and the jittering is still there but I tried it after a shutdown and then it spontaneously starts working again for a few sessions before going back to spazing out.

Just wondering could there be anything I can do to fix the behavior on the PC end? Or does this mean it's breaking down and needs to be replaced? I only ask because it worked normal on the other PC.

I've tried uninstalling it in the device manager and be redected to see if that made a difference and it did not.

    thanks for any ideas.

Are your drivers up to date? Mine was acting up and after updating, so far so good.

Go to Wacom's website and get the current drivers. Windows Update isn't the best way to update your hardware's drivers. It doesn't always include the most recent drivers and maybe not even the specific drivers your hardware needs.

Thanks, I got my drivers updated....and now it jumps around just as much BUT I can put it in pen mode which is still jittery but it only jitters within a few millimeteres (about 2-4 mm).

Then I thought it HAS to be the pens problem, then I remembered the wacom mouse that came with the tablet and tried that....and it's jittery too. So then I thought well it must be the tablet itself then so I double checked it on the other computer....and it was jittering on the other computer after all.....so I guess it's the pad itself. When I checked it on the other PC before it must have been getting a second wind or something.

At first I was worried about getting needing a new pad..but then I realized I might need a new PC...so this is less painless.

Can you plug in a USB mouse just to see how the pointer behaves then?

That's a good point thank you, so I tried and the USB mouse pointer works fine....so I'm pretty sure now I just need to cave and get a new Wacom tablet pen.

I am still bothered that it works fine on another computer but at this point, I don't have anything else to offer. I just would hate for you to try another pen and it too is jittery on the one computer.

Well normally I support my local independant computer store but for this i'll have to go futureshop were I can return it easilly if it doesn't work out.

Honestly, if it works fine on one machine, and not this one, then it might be the digitizer. I had this problem A LOT with an N-Trig digitizer.

A USB mouse won't test that.
